designed by Walter Gropius and Adolf Meyer, Gropius’s private studio, Weimar, 1922, for S. A. Loevy, Berlin, licence-produced by Wilhelm Engstfeld, Heiligenhaus, c. 1930, cast brass and metal, iron, the keyhole surrounds and door-handle rosettes attached to the plates by means of borders, inscribed WEHA and numbered 4147, handle diameter 3 cm, door plates: height 27 cm, width 5 cm. Original condition. Very rare exterior door mountings, with a door handle measuring three centimetres in diameter! Another example for which this large handle was used is the main portal of the Fagus-Werk in Alfeld/Germany (c. 1924).
